Study: Sun Not Responsible for Climate Change
Adelaide Now reports that a study by researchers from Germany, Switzerland and the United States shows the sun’s energy output has remained mostly steady over the past 1000 years, pointing to human behavior as the cause for global warming. The sun’s brightness varied by only 0.07 per cent over 11-year sunspot cycles, which researchers say is not enough to cause the temperature changes recorded since the Industrial Revolution.
Emissions of greenhouse gases from the use of fossil fuels in power plants, factories and cars are to blame for a 0.6 degrees celsius rise in temperatures in the past 100 years, the scientists say, refuting claims of others who say global warming is a natural variation caused by a gradual rise in the sun’s energy output.
