Australia Might Miss Solar Power Boom
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Australia could miss out on the solar energy industry boom unless the country regulates the use of solar in order to create an incentive for businesses to invest in it. Dutch engineer Sven Teske, a solar photovoltaics expert, says the technology is now in a transition phase between a niche and a mainstream market.
Teske says a Greenpeace and European PV Industry Association report indicates the market in photovoltaic cells and modules has sustained growth rate of almost 40 per cent over the past 10 years and 3.2 million people worldwide will be employed in the solar industry by 2025.
