GE Technology Chosen for Korean Solar Power Plant
RenewableEnergyAccess.com reports that GE Energy’s technology has been selected for a 3-megawatt solar power facility in Yong Gwang, Korea. The facility is under development by Korea Hydro Nuclear Power Co., which currently supplies more than 40% of Korea’s power. Energy generated by the Yong Gwang solar facility will be added to the nation’s grid.
GE will supply 200-watt solar power modules and equipment manufactured in Newark, Delaware. GE plans to invest $1.5 billion annually in research in cleaner technologies by 2010, up from $700 million in 2004.
