OLED Screens Potential Solar Power Source
SciFi Tech reports that researchers at Cornell University have created OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screens that can convert light into electricity. OLED screens work on the principle of electroluminescence — the process of turning electricity into light, but associate professor George Malliaras and his team have turned that around by creating screens that generate voltage when exposed to bright light.
Because OLEDs have the potential to be flexible they could be built into windows to absorb energy by day, which would then be converted into electrical power.
