Solar Cuts University’s Costs
Monmouth In The News reportsreports that solar panels installed on roofs of four Monmouth University buildings are generating electricity for at least 6 percent of the campus’ needs. The project, with enough solar panels to cover three quarters of an acre, is the largest at any college east of the Mississippi River.
The system cost about $2.8 million and was partly offset by a $1.7 million grant from the state Board of Public Utilities’s Clean Energy Program. The school expects to save at least $150,000 a year on electricity.
