New Jersey Environmentalists Release Strategy to Replace Nuclear Plants
HULIQ.com reports Environment New Jersey has joined with public safety and environmental groups to release “Pwering New Jersey’s Future: A clean Energy Strategy for Replacing the Oyster Creek and Salem Nuclear Plants.” The report illustrates a plan to replace the Oyster Creek and Salem nuclear plants with renewable energy and energy efficiency. Suzanne Leta Liou, Global Warming and Clean Energy Advocate for Environmental New Jersey says the Corzine Administration’s Energy Master Plan draft modeling assumptions contradict Governor corznie’s Executive Order to reduce the state’s global warming pollution. If the targets in “Powering New Jersey’s Future” were achieved, it would account for approximately 8,200 megawatts of electricity capacity through reduced demand and efficient and renewable sources.
