Navy beings construction on LEED compliant hanger
The Jacksonville Business Journal reports Naval Air Station Jacksonville has begun building a new 277,000-square-foot hangar to prepare for personnel and planes being transferred from Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine. The $123 million project includes aircraft apron paving, security fencing and gates, parking lots, walkways and one of the Navy’s largest hangers. The hanger will be built with solar shading, light shelves and heat-resistant designs to meet LEED standards. the project is scheduled for completion by summer 2009.
