Portugal opens world’s largest solar plant
The Resident reports The world’s largest solar power plant opened last week in Portugal. The 11-megawatt plant boasts 52,000 photovoltaic modules that will supply energy to 8,000 homes. The panels cover 60 hectares of land and are raised two metres off the ground, allowing the area to continue to be used as farmland. The solar cell technology will be cutting 30,000 tons of greenhouse gases, approximately one percent of Portugal’s annual emissions.
