Xantrex Selected for US Government’s Solar America Initiative
PR Newswire reports Xantrex Technology Inc. has been selected to develop next generation solar inverters for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar America Initiative. The DOE’s solar America Initiative will provide about $150 million in funding for 13 solar development projects to advance commercial competitiveness of solar power. Xantrex, as well as a select group of other companies, universities and researchers, will receive the funding over three years to photovoltaic solutions that put solar electricity at a competitive level with retail electric rates by 2010. Xantrex will join with SunPower, GE Energy, BP Solar and Amonix, Inc. to develop inverter solutions.
