Quantum Dots For Solar Panels
CNet.com reports Stion has received $15 million in venture funding in an effort to combine nanotechnology with alternative energy. Stion plans to make thin-film cells that are comparable to silicon solar cells but at a lower cost. It is rumored that the company is working with quantum dots, tiny particles highly sensitive to physical phenomena and can be used to trap electrons. Stion likely won’t come out with products until 2010.
