A Solar Habitat For Humanity Home
CNNMoney.com reports United Solar Ovonic has unveiled its new residential solar system to power a Habitat for Humanity home. The system is located in Traverse City, Michigan. Subhendu Guha, president and chief operation officer of USO said, “The system we are installing represents the state-of-the-art in solar technology, and it aligns with the Habitat for Humanity’s commitment to energy-efficient, healthy and environmentally-friendly building processes.”

We have a few solar PV homes in the Phoenix area. With better sun than most areas it produces more. The biggest problem is the habitat homes are not super efficient, they only meet minimum energy building requirements. If they put more insulation and a simple thermal barrier in the attic it would pay off twice as fast.
I know I used to volunteer on the building for a year. Passive solar pays off much faster than any energy use.
