German Company Boosts Solar Efficiency
Cleantech.com reports Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems has increased efficiency in multi-crystalline solar cells by using a Metal Wrap Through Process. The process partially moves the front side contacts over to the back, reducing the front side metalization by almost half. The first MWT cells from a prototype production obtained more than 16 percent efficiency, almost a half percent more than comparable silkscreen printed solar cells.
