PR Newswire reports on the new reports that shows renewable energy and energy efficiency are economic powerhouses in the U.S. The report was issued by American Solar Energy Society. The report shows that as many as 1 out of 4 workers in America will be working in the renewable energy or energy efficiency industries by 2030.

Lockheed and Starwood in Solar Partnership

Philadelphia Business Journal reports Lockheed Martin Corp. and Starwood Energy Group Global LLC are teaming up to pursue building utility-scale solar projects in North America. Lockheed will handle engineering, procurement, manufacturing and systems integration. Starwood will deal with arranging long-term power purchase agreements, site selection, getting permits and providing construction and permanent debt and equity financing.

Frigel Firenze Expands

PRW.com reports Frigel Firenze has quadrupled its manufacturing capacity at its Italian headquarters. The firm is opening a 10,000 sq. meter headquarters in November due to its 30 percents sales growth a year. Frigel manufactures closed-loop water cooling technology that recycles water used in cooling processes by pumping water into heat exchangers and cooling it with ambient air flow.

Port of Oakland Turns on Solar Plant

BYM News reports the Port of Oakland and SunEdison celebrated the activation of a new 756 kW solar power system. The system represents a major step in meeting the Oakland Board of Port Commissioners’ environmental directives and is the Port’s first utility generation plant. The P.V. system will generate about 1 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy annually.

GreenBiz.com reports Solexant wants to develop inexpensive inorganic P.V. cells that harvest more energy than their conventional counterparts. Mayaterials Inc. is attempting to obtain solar grade silicon from agricultural by-products. The U.S. Department of Energy is investing more than $800,000 into each of the two companies.

Australian Residents Challenged to Cut Power Use
