EcoLog reports on the tough times in the magnesium business. Timminco Limited closed its Ontariou processing facility to concentrate on processing magnesium imported from China. The company made the decision in 2004 to purchase Becancour Silicon Inc., a manufacturer of high-quality and electronic-grade silicon metal, along with the development of a process to purify chemical-grade silicon to be used in solar cells.
