Nigeria’s Solar Scheme
The Cheers News reports on the scheme in Nigeria to provide electricity to as many as 10 rural communities. Construction on the project has begun and they are expected to be delivered around January of next year. The scheme will benefit about 5,000 people.

TECHNICAL - INTRODUCTION
General functioning principle
The Solar Defender system is based on a network of optical surface sensors,
directly applied on the single panels and connected, via owner BUS, to a net of concentrator
modules able to communicate, via BUS RS485, with a management/control panel.
Each sensor incorporates a microprocessor for the measurement and detection of same specific
features on the panel’s surface and an advanced communication protocol able to detect and
communicate to the management/control panel, via concentrator modules, any attempt to tear,
remove and tamper both the single panel and the whole system.
The management/control panel signalizes punctually every event type and the exact indication of
the panel and concentrator interested by the event. It can be interfaced with any communication
and alarm system, therefore the way to receive the events is related with the system chosen by
the user.
The operation of Solar Defender is independent from the activation or less of the solar or
photovoltaic system: it can be applied on the first widened panel and in work course, to
guarantee the protection of the system already to open yard. (“Funzione Cantiere Aperto)
Composition of the system and features of the single component
The Solar Defender system is composed as following:
ALM-6415 Solar Defender Management Panel Series “Advanced”, connection on
BUS with owner protocol up till l 28 concentrator modules and 8.192 optical
surface sensors managed by loop.
Italian driven Menu, backlight LCD display with 4 lines x 20 characters and
anti-dust keypad alphanumerical with16 keys. Programming access with
password (8 characters), memory with 1.024 events, 2 menu (Master and
Utente). 4 relè outputs: sensor alarm, tamper, BUS tamper, peripheral device
manual exclusion; internal and external siren outputs; 3 exits Open Collector:
fault power 220V, arm/disarmed, maintenance; 1 input inseritore and 2 inputs
instantaneous alarm. Feeder 24 Vdc - 5A, power 230V 50Hz., cover
METALL
ALM-6405 Solar Defender Management Panel Series “Professional”, connection on
BUS with owner protocol up till 64 concentrator modules and 4.096 optical
surface sensors.
Italian driven Menù, backlight LCD display with 4 lines x 20 characters and
anti-dust keypad alphanumerical with16 keys. Programming access with
password (8 characters), memory with 1.024 events, 2 menù (Master and
User). 4 relè outputs: sensor alarm, tamper, BUS tamper, peripheral device

feeding from BUS.
ALM-6411 Solar Defender Concentrator Module with 5A supervisioned feeder, to
integrate the BUS feeding. Management up till 64 optical surface sensors.
N. 1 terminal block to connect at the management panel via BUS RS485 and
n. 1 terminal block to connect at the sensors via BUS by owner protocol.
ID System addressed and set by programming device ALM-6010.
Management Panel exclusion, auto-checking any 3,5 seconds, IP rating: IP66,
feeding from BUS. Feeder: 220Vac, battery 2x 12V/18Ah and from BUS.
ALM-6006 Optical surface sensor Solar Defender system, clump BUS connection with
owner protocol, ID System addressed and set by programming device ALM-
6010. Exclusion from Management Panel. Auto-checking any 1,5 seconds,
surface tolerance settable from the user. IP rating: IP60. Feeding from BUS,
construction weathered resistant.
ALM-6470 Software SDM (Solar Defender Management) to control and manage the
system in remote way. The software allows to centralize more Solar Defender
systems, the event management, the remote research, the E-Map and the
diagnostic functions.
ALM-6474 Solar Defender IP Module. Connection on the Solar Defender Management
Panels Series ALM-xxxx; operating with static and dynamic IP.
Events/alarm communication system
To complete the protection system for the photovoltaic plant, are following described the
communication systems that can be interfaced with the Management Panel Solar Defender. .
RP3000 GSM phone combinator devices, 6 alarm vocal messages at the 6 inputs
avaible; SMSalarm message and programming, vocal guide to program in
local and in remote way, remote control in DTMF and calls identification,
credit management, SIM management, intensità di campo, file storico
interno tramite SMS Alloggio per batteria da 2Ah. Alimentazione 14,2Vcc. assorbimento 40mA in riposo, 280mA in allarme. Dimensioni
23,5×22x5 Cm.
MM5001 Outdoor Siren with back-up battery in polycarbonates and steel internal
cover. Complete of double strobe and multifunctional LED. Polarity
automatic selection. Operating at 12Vcc with low absorption (350mA).
Double piezoelectric con with sound power of 114 dB at 1mt. Time setting
at 3,5,10 or 20 min. Complete with tear-proof and bulgar-proof tamper.

Alarm system for the technical room
To protect the technical room (invert cabin) where will be installed the Solar Defender
Management Panel, in this proposal is suggested the installation of the following systems, that
can be interfaced with Solar Defender Management Panel.
MX-40QZ Double microwave technology Detector + PIR.
FD-1036 Armoured magnetic contact with two through fixing holes. Electro
insulated reed and magnet bodies in proof metal case. Connections with 4
wires cable.
KB-408 KIT Electronic key access control kit composed by a remote card KB-408 1
relè, from 1 to 5 codes, 2 keys KB-DDK, 1 reader KB-LKB.
