From Salt Water to Drinking Water Using Solar Power
The Earth Times reports researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems have designed a solar powered mobile water treatment plant for areas in the world suffering from drought. One plant can produce up to 150L of drinking water a day using salt water. The desalination process uses membrane distillation. 1,000 liters will cost the equivalent of $15 when the plants can be mass produced.
