MarketWatch reports Ascent Solar Technology, a developer of thin film photovoltaic modules, will present at the 2nd Annual Clean Energy Conference in New York City and the 5th Annual Growth Conference in Boston. The company’s thin film technology can be easily built into various building materials to promote solar energy.

TradingMarkets.com reports DuPont Photovoltaic Solar has launched in India to provide crystalline silicon and thin film modules for the solar industry. A photovoltaic lab is planned to be established by 2010 to provide further research. DuPont expects sales to exceed $1 billion within 5 years for products in the photovoltaic product line.

Forbes.com reports ExxonMobil has been banned from running a misleading television commercial on natural gas in England. The misleading advertisement compares natural gas to renewable energy sources, including solar energy, versus other fossil fuels.

Business Wire reports GreenHunter Renewable Energy Power has completed the acquisition of Telogia Power, a biomass power plant. This purchase helps GreenHunter’s goal of having a diverse renewable energy portfolio, including solar power, to maximize the return to shareholders.

MarketWatch reports the Zaragoza project will be the largest photovoltaic power installation in the world, boasting 12MW capacity. The system will utilize thin film flexible solar laminates to cover 2 million square feet of GM’s car manufacturing plant in Spain. The project is expected to be operational by the end of September 2008.

SignonSanDiego.com reports San Diego’s downtown Civic Center is contemplating corporate sponsors to name pieces of the complex, this does not include City Hall. Another thought was to include a beacon of light at the top of the buildings that illuminate when that building is producing its own electricity from solar energy.
