Forbes.com reports ExxonMobil has been banned from running a misleading television commercial on natural gas in England. The misleading advertisement compares natural gas to renewable energy sources, including solar energy, versus other fossil fuels.

MarketWatch reports the Zaragoza project will be the largest photovoltaic power installation in the world, boasting 12MW capacity. The system will utilize thin film flexible solar laminates to cover 2 million square feet of GM’s car manufacturing plant in Spain. The project is expected to be operational by the end of September 2008.

PV Tech reports SolarWorld has released the 100,000,000th solar cell into the world. The company has been producing solar cells since 2002 to reach this milestone. Next year, they are looking to produce 200MW of solar cells, or 50 million cells a year.

The energy company is now one of the fastest growing businesses in the Northeast and has won two large contracts to employ three full-time employees. Solar Energy Centre features installation of solar panels to provide a water heating system.

Environmental Experts.com reports Accion has completed the solar garden installation within two weeks of the expiry date set by the Spanish Government. The five gardens together total a capacity of 61.5 MWp. The option of solar gardens allows private investors to purchase photovoltaic installations next to others to share infrastructures and reduce costs.

Wimaxday reports the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization in Greece is using photovoltaic solar power systems to provide electricity to the network located in the mountainous terrain of Mount Athos. The mountain, consisting of 20 monestaries, currently has no other means of electricity and the system has been running uninterrupted even during the worst weather conditions.
