Media Newswire reports Mesa Community College has opened a new science building and planetarium. The 60,000 square foot building is LEED certified and the 2,100 ft planetarium that features solar panels that double as shade for the Astronomy plaza.

stjoenews.net reports St. Joseph was evaluated by The Austin co. as a possible site for an industrial park. The company looks to work with companies that are looking to be located nationwide, including the alternative energy industry. The representative with The Austin Co. thinks all companies should be geared up for solar and wind power that is expected to grow 20% in the next 20 years.

GIL will provide design and consultation services for companies wishing to build completely sustainable projects. TradingMarkets.com reports DuPont Photovoltaic Solar has launched in India to provide crystalline silicon and thin film modules for the solar industry. A photovoltaic lab is planned to be established by 2010 to provide further research. DuPont expects sales to exceed $1 billion within 5 years for products in the photovoltaic product line.

MarketWatch reports the Zaragoza project will be the largest photovoltaic power installation in the world, boasting 12MW capacity. The system will utilize thin film flexible solar laminates to cover 2 million square feet of GM’s car manufacturing plant in Spain. The project is expected to be operational by the end of September 2008.

SignonSanDiego.com reports San Diego’s downtown Civic Center is contemplating corporate sponsors to name pieces of the complex, this does not include City Hall. Another thought was to include a beacon of light at the top of the buildings that illuminate when that building is producing its own electricity from solar energy.

A project called Exceptional Green Living in Detroit, Michigan will feature tankless water heaters and paint that will increase insulation by reflecting and retaining heat from the sun.

Market Watch reports Delta will launch a green factory in Rudrapur, Uttakakhand, India. The plant will use natural lighting and solar panels to reduce carbon emissions and is registered with the Green Building Council to reach the highest green accreditation available.
