Company Ships First Photovoltaic Modules to United States

PV-Tech.org reports that the first PV module shipment has arrived in the United States. Worldwide Energy and Manufacturing USA, Inc have spearheaded the effort along with their subsidiary, Shanghai Intech Electro-Mechanical Products Co. The modules were given the required UL certification.

BP Solar and RGE Energy AG Plan World’s Largest Solar Project

OilVoice.com reports that BP Solar has teamed up with RGE Energy AG to plan one of the largest solar projects to date. The photovoltaic plant is expected to have a capability of 46 megawatts and will be located in Koethen, Saxony-Anhalt. The project is also expected to house 210,000 photovoltaic modules.

Sharp to Introduce New Solar Module

PressReleaseNetwork.com reports that Sharp will unveil their new Solar Module for Mobile Devices (LR0GC02). The unit will have a thickness of 0.8 mm and can be manipulated by device manufacturers to meet their own specific requirements.

Ciol.com reports that the solar photovoltaic modules created by SunFab Thin Film Line were given Electrotechnical Commission certification (IEC). The modules were constructed by the use of advanced tandem junction technologies.

Azonano.com reports that DuPont will now mass produce photovoltaic encapsulant sheets. The sheets create better durability and efficiency for photovoltaic modules by helping to create a longer life and less cost per-watt.

Nestle Purina Installs Solar Panels on Rooftop

dBusinessNews reports that Nestlé Purina PetCare has installed a series of solar panels on top of their facility. The array contains 467 photovoltaic panels that covers over 21,000 square feet and has an output of 100 kilowatts of energy. It is the largest privately owned solar project in Colorado.

Siemens Builds Photovoltaic Facility in Italy

RenewableEnergyWorld.com reports that Siemens has constructed a photovoltaic plant in Italy. The plant has an output of 1 megawatt and is ground-based. Siemens teamed up with Farrarelle S.p.A to create the project and it’s located just north of Naples.

New Photovoltaic Plant Set for North Carolina

PowerOnline.com reports that Carolina Solar Energy will create a 500-kW solar photovoltaic power plant near Roxboro, North Carolina. Progress Energy will also be involved in the project, however Carolina Solar will design and operate the facility. Progress is expected to sell the energy to their customers.

CSTEP to Study Solar PVs

The Times of India reports that the Energy Department Principal Secretary in India gave approval to the Centre for Study of Science, Technology, and Policy (CSTEP) to perform a feasibility study on solar photovoltaics and propose new business models. If the study is successful, a new solar energy system could be implemented to decrease peak load by up to 10% next year.

Duke Energy and N.C. Utilities Agree on PV Program

Emediawire.com reports that Duke Energy and the North Carolina Utilities Commission came to an agreement on a new utility-owned distributed photovoltaic program worth $50 million. The program will be the first of its kind in the Southeast U.S.. The Solar Electric Power Association gave the companies praise for reaching the agreement.
