SignonSanDiego.com reports San Diego’s downtown Civic Center is contemplating corporate sponsors to name pieces of the complex, this does not include City Hall. Another thought was to include a beacon of light at the top of the buildings that illuminate when that building is producing its own electricity from solar energy.

Business Wire reports Sunrise Solar Corp. is able to significantly reduce a person’s carbon footprint through their solar panel, solar lighting, and solar water heating systems. The company is able to provide service to residences or government mandates.

MarketWatch reports APS customers will be able to take advantage of tax incentives and rebates to install renewable energy systems thanks to a new loan program. APS and Electric Gas Industry Association allows financing for renewable energy systems such as roof top solar electric, solar water heating, and wind turbines. A roof top solar system initially costs $21,000, after rebates and incentives it costs $9,000. The GEOSmart Loan Program allows this out of pocket cost to be financed.

NBC5i.com reports Innovative Home Magazines’ 2008 Green Home is complete in Fort Worth, Texas and open for tours through October 12. The home is LEED Certified and features solar panels, bamboo flooring, countertops made from recycled material, and among other things, a rainwater harvesting system.

The Daily Transcript reports an application has been submitted for Stirling Energy Systems to build the world’s largest solar energy plant. Featuring 30,000 solar dishes, the plant would be located in the desert of Southern California.

AM620KPOJ reports a $1.3 million solar project broke ground at the interchange of I-5 & I-205 in Oregon. Sunlight power, gathered onto 594 solar panels, will be placed on the Portland Electric Grid to power the lights at the interchange during the night.

Renewable Energy World.com reports SMA America and SunEdison have partnered for the 50-ciy educational tour to teach the public about solar power. Two exhibits will travel for 100 days across the Western United States displaying a full photovoltaic system and hands-on equipment for attendees.

Alternative Energy reports five solar companies are sponsoring a 100-day tour to highlight the viability and benefits of solar power. The tour will visit 50 cities and is meant to attract anyone from government officials to community members to utilities companies. Each exhibit is run by solar power.

Energy Current reports Clear Skies Solar will install a photovoltaic solar power system at the McGowen Builders new headquarters in New Jersey. The 122kW project calls for 610 Suntech solar panels and is expected to be finished by the beginning of September. The Renewable Energy Credits provided by the state allowed the McGowen brothers to make this investment in alternative energy.

Ithaca Times reports Tompkins County, New York residents have an incentive to install solar power in their homes- it currently has the most solar power systems in the state. The New York State Energy Research & Development Authority has put a local tax exemption into place indefinately. NYSERDA will provide a 40% savings of installation by giving $16,000 back from up front costs.
